Frequently Asked
Construction support is the ongoing engineering input we provide once a project is on site. It covers responses to contractor queries, design amendments where site conditions differ from the assumptions made at design stage, attendance at key construction stages to inspect structural works, and coordination with the architect, builder and Building Control. The aim is to make sure the structure is built as designed, and to resolve issues quickly when they arise.
For straightforward residential projects it is not always essential, but it is strongly recommended at certain stages — typically foundation excavation, beam installation, and any unforeseen ground conditions. Site visits give the engineer the chance to verify that the actual conditions match the design assumptions and to issue revised details on the spot if anything needs to change.
Yes — we know that delays on site cost money, so we prioritise queries from active projects. Most straightforward questions are answered the same working day, often within an hour or two. For queries that need a sketch, calculation or revised detail, we typically turn these around within 24 to 48 hours.
Yes. Once the structural works are complete and we have inspected them (or reviewed contractor sign-off photographs), we can issue a completion letter confirming that the works have been carried out in accordance with the approved structural design. This is often required by Building Control before final sign-off and by solicitors at the point of sale.
